a special whoop whoop!

I interrupt my post-wedding sabbatical to share blog love to my dear friends and wedding photographers in Colorado, Scott & Alyssa. Today, they found out they’re gonna have a little _____ (click here to find out details).

The circle of life amazes me. Days like this remind me of the importance of sharing in  excitement for little things in life. Imagine what our parents must have thought when they found out when we were just barely on the horizon. Shocked? Nervous? Giddy? Proud? Rewind three decades when ultrasounds didn’t exist. There’s nothing like opening a special present on Christmas Eve.

Their specialness shined on their engagement session two years ago …  they shared chemistry before I knew what chemistry could be like : wpid-alyssa_scott_engagement10-2012-04-4-20-47.jpg Photographing another photographer’s wedding is an extra special thing. The cherry on top? That feeling on their wedding day. wpid-alyssa_scott_wedding_11-2012-04-4-20-47.jpg And then when you shoot their steamy ‘O Brother, Where Art Thou?’ session a year later, the reward gets even better! wpid-scott_alyssa_photos_in_sterling_11-2012-04-4-20-47.jpg Alyssa makes for a darn good model. While Scott is handsome, he makes for one stellar friend for life! He’s donned his cabbie hat on more than one occasion, including a Mad-Men inspired vintage shoot: wpid-PastedGraphic-2012-04-4-20-47.tiff And a photography lighting workshop in Sterling last summer… wpid-free_to_create_wedding_photogray_workshop_09-2012-04-4-20-47.jpg But more importantly, they both have taught be to be patient gardener’s and reiterated the value of hard work. Scott served as a HUGE help to sell my house in Denver and celebrate in the Art of Guys’ night (I’m donning my cabbie hat in his honor):wpid-couch_surfing_denver-2012-04-4-20-47.jpg Scott and Alyssa decorated  my office by surprise with these stickies… love those words of affirmation!!!  (pictured now hanging in home office in Minneapolis): wpid-stebner-sticky-love-2012-04-4-20-47.jpg Scott played an important role in my bachelor party and brainstorming sessions at my favorite Blue Sky Cafe in Lakewood. wpid-bros-2012-04-4-20-47.jpg I was super stoked to have him at my side again during a bridal test shoot using a PhaseOne Capture Pilot a few weeks ago: wpid-BehindScenev2.Still002-4x5-2012-04-4-20-47.jpg

Scott and Alyssa, continue to be each other’s best friends and rest in ease knowing that you’ll be wonderful parents. Krista and I wish you all the very best and can’t wait for you to be my birthday present to visit Minneapolis. Eeeek!

Let’s share in their excitement!

*** PS- If you are a parent, what you would give to see more photos of YOUR parents’ love story? While today’s iPhone photos might seem un-important, in 50 years those shots WILL turn into gold and will be an incredible gift for the next generation.
