Denver Wedding Photographer {Mani & Mana}

As a Denver wedding photographer, I know mountain scenery like Boulder’s Flatirons serves the perfect background for these Colorado wedding photos!

At the end of a long summer day with friends, he took out his jacket and with care put on her shoulders. That’s when she knew he was the one.

With pinky finger dipped in honey, they shared the sweetness in life with each other on the big day at their Dove House wedding in Lafayette, Colorado. Their “honey ceremony,” a Persian wedding tradition, offered a few giggles. An awesome metaphor for life and love.

Mana and Mani showed that fun, joy, and love never fall out of tradition. Pure, natural, sweet. Timely, too.

“Did you know September is National Honey Month?” I enthusiastically asked Mana, like I was earning an extra merit badge for recruiting other fellow honey enthusiasts (This Minneapolis-based wedding photographer is one serious gardening enthusiast, I admit). She was surprised to learn that her wedding would coordinate with such an occasion!

Mana and Mani paid homage to their Persian roots in their wedding planning. Iranian pop music popular energized guests on the dance floor. A Persian knife dance before the cake cutting created smiles for the young and old. And homemade traditional desserts by Annie, Mani’s mother, and florals by Shirin, Mana’s mom. #familytradition

Returning as a Colorado-translated photographer at Lionsgate / Dove House is much like returning to my roots. I one of my first solo weddings here almost 9 years ago. To return to my former stomping-grounds felt surreal, having earned experience from shooting destination weddings around the world with awards and happy clients to commemorate. I never forget my roots.

Mani will never forget seeing how Mana walked down the aisle with her beautiful smile. “I can not forget that picture ever,” Mani told me after the wedding.

Mani’s favorite part of the day: the first dance, completely unrehearsed… but it didn’t look it!

Mana’s take: The night before at 11:30 pm we decided to change our dance to something that would better fit the theme of our wedding, so we picked the song after a bit of research and went to bed. No practice! I will be telling that story for years! wpid-lionsgate_Denver_wedding_photographer_022-2015-09-15-14-29.jpg

Mana’s favorite part of the day: the kiss during the first dance!
