For the third year in a row, I’ve been excited to be apart of the Newvember group show at Ecce Gallery in Fargo, ND sharing my personal fine-art photography. This year marks the 5th annual gathering of local and regional artists mixed with music and drinks… a reprieve of from the doldrums of an approaching winter that makes me feel, for an evening, I’m in Manhattan. Owner Mark Weiler delivered an impressive display of new works to adorn the concrete floors and exposed brick. For a few hours, I feel like one of the cool kids on the block.

I was honored to see Curly on display right when patrons walk in the door. Lots of questions of what kind of sheep he is… and the answer: She is an angora goat from Fergus Falls, arguably one of the Midwest’s most (in)famous bovidae. I was excited to see it displayed prominently.

Pictured above/right, hangs brand new work created a few weeks ago in Germany, wrapping up my 4-year project, Divine Animals: The Bovidae. German Pastoral Study #1, Archival Ink on Photo rag, available framed in sizes 24” x 28” or 53″ x 40”. My new work is a departure from my previous style, yet one I embrace with a painterly approach (it is still a photograph).

Had to wear my “era” hat and favorite fuzzy vest that keeps me warm when creating this work in the field.

It was great to catchup with art friends and meet new ones in a relaxed, fun atmosphere. The four-hour drive was worth it!

Meghan Duda with new work. I always enjoy our conversations and her work (and technical processes) make me think… which I like!

I enjoyed meeting Emma Beatrez and seeing her paintings, including this one of her brother’s hands:

Britta Anderson gets the longest distance award… she flew in from North Carolina where she is working on her MFA. She brought along a crew of family and friends from Bismarck, too.

Mike Marth knows how to turn heads… just like he always does.

Andrea Qual and Kelly Thompson are two North Dakota painters that are easy to be around… and fellow TAG artists, too.
